Live Oak live: On Sept. 24 faculty and students of Live Oak Elementary held a dedication ceremony at the school. Parents, Newton County School System staff and county leaders were present at the well-attended event. Students in Shelley Yeatman’s Pre-K class Marnessia Lewis, left, Onemerhomu Erakpotobar, Josias Ottiz-Molina, Brecken Baxter, Isaiah Wooden, Makhi Mahon, Jahmel Johnson, Christian Jones, Hailey Baker, (Jena Kennedy and Stacy Castillo are not seen) performed "The Green Grass Grows All Around" at the dedication ceremony. The entire faculty and staff then serenaded the audience with their theme song, "We are the Lions, the Mighty Mighty Lions," which students recently voted as their school’s mascot. Live Oak is the county’s 14th elementary school.
