One week until school is out for the summer

In just a week, school will be out for summer. The last day for students is May 23; report cards will be issued that day as well.

Teachers will have to wait a little longer for their summer break, with elementary teachers' last day on May 24 and secondary teachers on May 25.

Students will return back to school for the 2012-13 school year on Aug. 3.

For graduating seniors, they will have their commencement ceremonies on May 25 and 26 at Sharp Stadium. Eastside High will be the first to graduate at 7 p.m. May 25; Alcovy High will hold their graduation May 26 at 9 a.m. and Newton on May 26 at 7 p.m.

Because the ceremonies are being held outside this year, there will be a rain contingency.

If there is light rain, the ceremony will continue as planned. For heavier rain and lightning a 60-minute rain delay schedule will be triggered.

There are also alternate day schedules should weather prove a pressing issue.
