Kristina Collins of Newton High School has earned the Mary Frazier Equity and Excellence Award from the Georgia Association for Gifted Children.

This award is in honor of Mary Frazier (1938-2005), late past president of National Association for Gifted Children and pioneer for changed laws and procedures that has tripled the inclusion of African-American and quadrupled Hispanic student identification for the gifted program for the state of Georgia alone. Kristina Collins is the third person to ever receive this award, according to a release.
