COVINGTON, Ga. - On Friday, Oct. 13, the Montessori School of Covington’s Early Childhood classrooms and their mothers completed their annual community service project, “Mom’s Event.”
This year Mom’s Event took place at Central Church.
One of the least donated articles of clothing is socks and it’s the most needed. In the fall spirit our project was called “Socktober.” With Socktober the students painted flower pots, lids, wooded dowels, and glued on leaves to compose what looked like a pumpkin. Next, they stuffed the pots with a pair of socks and a few treats. They also made cards to attach to the pots with a special message.
Once we completed our project, we delivered them to the residents at Merryvale Assisted Living and other assisted living facilities in Covington.
The children really enjoyed passing out the pots and the cards to the residents. The children also performed a finger play called “I’m a Little Pumpkin.”
This was such a special day where mother and child spent quality time together and served our community.
