Covington woman Kelly Ann King was recognized as a First Honor Graduate during commencement ceremonies at the University of Georgia earlier this month.

A 2009 graduate of Piedmont Academy, where she was valedictorian, King maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average during her time at UGA. She graduated summa cum laude and ranked in the top 1 percent of her 1,800 student class with a degree in biological science from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

King is the daughter of Hal and Ann. King's mother Ann said that her daughter was given special recognition at the ceremony, walking in following the President's party and sitting in the front row with the faculty. She was introduced by Jere W. Morehead, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, during the graduation and was asked to stand along with her family and friends.
