COVINGTON, Ga. - Cousins Middle School principal Terrence Martin has resigned effective Friday, Aug. 3. In a letter to Newton County School Superintendent Samantha Fuhrey, Martin said his resignation was “due to personal and professional reasons.”

Superintendent Fuhrey met with faculty and staff at Cousins Middle School Monday morning and assured them that her full attention would be focused on the welfare and progress of the school.

She also announced that Darren Berry, NCSS’s director of student services, would be at the school to provide support to assistant principals, Dr. Allison Smith and Aaron Robinson, until a new principal is hired.

“It is my intent to appoint the best leader for Cousins Middle School to support the students and staff as they work to achieve their goals,” Fuhrey said.

According to the superintendent, the vacancy announcement will be posted later in the day.
