Carpenter not picked as superintedent

The Jackson, Miss. school board decided against Dennis Carpenter as their new superintendent, going instead with Cedric Gray.

After nearly two hours in executive session the board made the announcement. The vote was 5-2 for Gray.

Carpenter, currently the Deputy Superintendent for Operations at the Newton County School System will continue with his duties in Newton County. He could not be reached for comment as of press time.
