Curtain falls at Newborn Opry
Newborn Opry closed Saturday after 10 year run

A Christmas concert on Saturday marked the end of a 10-year run for the Newborn Opry.

The Opry was held in the old schoolhouse in Newborn, built in 1923, and the Opry offered free or low-cost gospel concerts on first Saturdays and country and bluegrass performances on third Saturdays of every month.

The final performance featured Aaron Varner, Tim Walden, Steve Biggers, Lamar Worthy, Pete and Ann, Bear Adams, Jimmy Davis, Tammy Ingram, Anita Denny, Allen Russell, the Hegwoods, Wilma Thompson, Bob Roberts and Danny Cayton Head and the Opry Band.
