UPDATE: Victims identified in Feb. 9 possible murder-suicide

UPDATE Feb. 15, 1 p.m.: Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis has released the identities of the victims from the possible murder-suicide Feb. 9. 

The male victim was identified as Kamill Clark-Martin and the female victim was identified as Colleen Burton. Davis was unable to provide the victims' ages to The Covington News. 

Davis said the cause of death and manner of death were not being released yet.

UPDATE Feb. 10, 1 p.m.: Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) is conducting interviews in reference to the reported murder-suicide on Pebble Brook Pass yesterday.

As of Friday, NCSO still considers the incident a murder-suicide.

Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis told The Covington News he was still making notifications and was not releasing victim information.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, around 12:52 p.m. Newton County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) was dispatched to 35 Pebble Brook Pass, in Covington, in reference to a person shot.While on the way to the scene, deputies learned another person was threatening suicide.

When deputies arrived they discovered two persons, a male and a female, had been shot. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis. 

All indications lead investigators to believe the incident was a murder-suicide, according to a NCSO press release. At this time, the Newton County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the exact cause and manner of death. The investigation is ongoing.
