A 17-year-old from Covington was arrested on multiple charges after fleeing a traffic stop initiated by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

According to NCSO, a deputy made contact with the teen Feb. 13 as he was riding a four-wheeler in the street. The teen reportedly fled the scene, making contact with the deputy’s foot in the process. The deputy was reportedly not seriously injured.

The teen was arrested Feb. 14 and booked into the Newton County Jail on charges of aggravated assault- felony, obstruction of officers-felony, fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense and driving without a license.
