Qumentiz Marquez McKibben, 24, of Monroe and formerly of Covington, is in the Newton County Jail after federal agents with the U.S. Marshal Service apprehended him Tuesday evening.

McKibben was wanted in connection with the shooting death of 33-year-old Shaun Barfield on May 6 in the Tanglewood neighborhood of Monroe.

In announcing the capture of McKibben, Glass said the investigations into the deaths of Barfield and Barnes remain active and he expects an additional arrest.

Newton County jail records show two previous arrests of McKibben in 2009, one in 2014, one in 2015 and two more in 2016.

Keith Glass, the public safety director in Monroe, said he appreciated the help of Covington police, the Newton County and Hall County sheriff’s offices, the U.S. Marshal Service and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
