BREAKING: Accident involving school bus on Highway 36

COVINGTON, Ga. - Around 6:17 a.m. an accident occurred on Highway 36, just north of Myrtle Grove Lane, involving a truck and a Newton County school bus.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the accident.

The truck, which was traveling south on Highway 36, reportedly ran off the road, overcorrected, crossed the center line and flipped, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP) on scene. The truck was struck by the school bus, which was traveling north.

The truck driver was transported to Atlanta Medical Center and cleanup of the scene is ongoing.
