The Covington Cavaliers are tearing up the competition. They currently on an 18-game winning streak in Georgia and have won four straight tournament titles. The Cavaliers have not lost to a Peach State team this season. Sunday, the winning continued with a 66-59 win over Team Impact MH for the 15U championship at Suwanee Sports Academy. Capturing the USSSA State Championship was the fourth consecutive title the Cavaliers have won this season. The Cavaliers’ only losses this season were to the Florida Family twice, once in the finals of the Atlanta Invitational earlier in the year and then in Orlando. Anthony Henderson has been the catalyst of Covington’s success. He is the team’s leading scorer and is a mismatch problem for teams. Henderson scored a game-high 19 points in the championship game. He got some help though as the Cavaliers had three other players finish in double figures. Jalen Glover poured in 18 points, Taylor Hawkins chipped in with 13 and Treyvon Francis had 11. Covington finished the weekend averaging 55 points a game, which included beating the Atlanta Celtics 31-points (78-47). This effort is why the Cavaliers are the top-ranked 15U team in the state for USSSA. The Cavaliers are planning to attend the ESPN National Showcase in Orlando in July. To raise the necessary funds, the team will hold three fish fry fundraisers. The Cavs are led by head coach Tavarus Stokes and assistants Dwayne Miller and Timothy Starks Sr. The team is made up of Anthony Henderson, Timothy Starks, Jr., Treyvon Frances, Deymon Greenwood, Tyler Carter Miller, Caylen Gooch, Ahkeem Payne, Brandon Lybrand, Taylor Hawkins and Jaylen Glover.
