Covington-area teen dies after crash

MONROE, Ga. — A teenager who was hurt in an incident involving a car last week has died from her injuries.

Mackenzie Dawn Howard, 17, died Saturday.

Howard had a Covington address in Walton County. She was a junior at Walnut Grove High School.

Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Highway 81, Loganville, according to her obituary from Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Corinth Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Monroe police said Howard got out of a truck she was riding in on Breedlove Driveon the night of April 3 and was struck. She was taken to Piedmont Walton Hospital, then airlifted to an Atlanta hospital.
