COVINGTON, Ga. - Results are in for the City of Covington's municipal election, with Susie Keck and Anthony Henderson claiming the majority of the votes in their respective seats.

Keck is facing off against the incumbent Chris Smith for the Post 1 East Ward position, while Henderson is in the running for the Post 3 West Ward position alongside incumbent Ocie Franklin and candidate Jeffrey Johnson.

"I want to thank Chris Smith for running such a nice campaign," Keck said. "I look forward to leading Covington into the future. Thank you."

"Since I was a kid, I was in that ward, so I didn't think any other candidate knew that ward better than I did," Henderson said. "I would like to congratulate Ocie Franklin, also Jeffrey Johnson for a positive race, everything was clean. I will say, we made a little bit of history here, being 21 (years old) elected, so it's a blessing. I'm ready to give back to the community and to the people."

Voting results, as reported by the Newton County Board of Elections, are as follows:

East Ward, Post 1:

Keck: 524 (61.5 percent)

West Ward, Post 3:

Johnson: 108 (22.78 percent)
