COVINGTON, Ga. — With three newly-elected council members, the city of Covington approved the city manager agreement Monday night, making Scott Andrews the city manager until Dec. 31, 2021.

Andrews succeeded former City Manager Leigh Anne Knight, who retired Dec. 13, 2019.

As city manager, Andrews will make an annual base salary of $140,000, according to the agreement.

The agreement stated Andrews must relocate to the Covington area within six months of employment, and to cover relocation costs, the city will pay a lump sum up to $7,000. He currently resides in Smyrna.

In addition, the city agreed to pay a "vehicle allowance" in the sum of $6,000 per year, payable monthly, to purchase, lease or own, operate and maintain a vehicle, according to the agreement.
