COVINGTON, Ga. - You are invited to attend the 2017 Regional Job Fair on Thursday, Sept. 21. The job fair was announced by Congressman Jody Hice as a commitment to partnership and workforce development between the Economic Development Offices of Newton, Morgan, Jasper and Walton counties, and Georgia Piedmont Technical College. During the job fair, potential employees will have the opportunity to connect with local industries in the bio/life sciences, advanced/process manufacturing, service industries, and film and tourism sectors.

“As a member of Congress, one of my top priorities is to improve Georgia’s economy by encouraging job growth in the 10th District. As such, this event will connect local industry leaders with potential employees to demonstrate that the 10th District really is the best place in which to do business,” said Congressman Jody Hice. The four counties are bringing the job fair together with Congressman Hice leading the program.

The job fair is geared toward helping local job seekers get in front of local companies that provide an array of products and services from pharmaceutical to film production. Over 50 employers are anticipated to be represented. The Covington Newton Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Office of Economic Development, works to spur growth in the county through programs that aid in the recruitment of industries, commercial and retail businesses, and examine growth strategies and land use planning.

“Newton County is experiencing growth in many industries and that means more jobs for potential employees right here,” said Ralph Staffins, President of the Covington-Newton Chamber of Commerce. “Many companies are international and highly diverse in producing and distributing automotive supplies, food products, plastics, medical devices, golf balls and much more. They have made Newton County home because they recognize the talent resources and successful business environment we offer. This job fair helps us to showcase the immense talent available for employment in our community.”

There is no fee to participate in the job fair, but advanced registration is required. The job fair will be held on September 21, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. It will be located at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, 8100 Bobby Williams Parkway, Covington, GA 30014.
