Becky Rutledge bought the business in 2005 and shortly after moved off the square onto Reynolds Street in downtown Covington. Since 2005, Rutledge estimated she has handled aspects of more than 150 weddings.
The full-service bridal salon features bridal dresses by Casablanca and Alfred Angelo, bridesmaids' dresses by Alfred Angelo as well as flower girl dresses and attire for the mother of the bride or groom.
"When that bride tries on that dress and you see her mother's face and her face," Rutledge said, "you just know when you hit the right one."
Accessories available at Candlelight include jewelry, veils and shoes, which if bought at Candlelight can be dyed to match a dress free of charge.
Rutledge said for the most part, Covington brides desire traditional weddings and attire.
"A lot of brides now do like color in their dresses," Rutledge said.
Brides can also outfit their groom at Candlelight with a full range of tuxedo rentals. The seventh tuxedo rental is free. Teens headed to the prom can also shop together for tuxedos and prom dresses.
When Rutledge bought the business, she expanded it to include Flowers and Catering by Becky. The expanded business also includes wedding planning, coordinating and directing services.
A full line of invitations, including the popular Carlson Craft stationary, rounds out the full-service boutique.
Currently, Candlelight is offering 30 percent off of everything in the store except for bridesmaids' dresses, which are 15 percent off. Certain discontinued bridal dresses are $99 and discontinued bridesmaids' dresses are $49.
Rutledge said she bought the business because she knows many people in Covington but has been surprised at how many new people she has met due to the city's and county's growing population.
She added she loves the ability to make the sometimes stressful tasks of a bride more convenient.
"Candlelight is different from other stores, I think, because of the personal service that you get," Rutledge said, "and the fact that you can come in here and take care of your entire wedding and never leave my desk."
