ELLABELL, Ga. (AP) — A woman has been charged with child cruelty after her daughter was mauled to death by seven dogs authorities say her family owned.

Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith Tuesday says 18-year-old Summer Laminack was surrendered to the sheriff's office Tuesday by her attorney. Authorities have said Laminack's 18-month-old daughter, Monica, slipped through a dog door at her family's house in Ellabell on March 27 and was mauled to death in the backyard by pit bulls and pit bull mixes.

Smith says Laminack is free on $5,000 bond. A call to Laminack's attorney was not immediately returned.

Ellabell is about 30 miles west of Savannah.
