Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hofmann of Alexandria, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter Michelle Elizabeth to James Steven Hillman of Alexandria, son of Dr. and Mrs. Don Hillman of Covington.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Col. And Mrs. Henry Lowder of Pinehurst, N.C., and Mrs. Mildred Hofmann of Accokeek, Md. She is a graduate of West Potomac High School and Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in human nutrition, foods and exercise. She is employed as office manager for Delano Demolition.

The future groom is the grandson of Mrs. Kathryn Kuhn of Monument, Colo. He is a graduate of Eastside High School and Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in finance and human resource management. He is employed as a government contract finance manager for Burson-Marsteller.

The wedding will take place June 6 at War Memorial Chapel, Blacksburg, Va.
