Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
Psalm 105:1
(New Living Translation)
Have you ever had some good news you just couldn’t wait to share? I never cease to be amazed at people and how they react to good news.
I remember watching TV game shows with my grandmother when I was a child.
Her favorite was the game show where the contestants had to guess the price of something, and if they were lucky enough to guess closely enough to the actual price, they would win the item as their prize. Some of the contestants would run to the microphone almost breathlessly, while others would just briskly walk.
If they won the item, some contestants would laugh while others would cry tears of joy.
And I’ll bet they couldn’t wait to tell someone about it!
That’s what we do when something wonderful happens to us. We just can’t wait to share the good news.
In the Psalm for this week, the psalmist has his priorities right. He says, “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.”
When we pray and God answers our prayer, our response should be to give our thanks to God for all he has done, and to tell others about God’s greatness.
Over the next few weeks during the Revive @ 5 service at the Wesley Chapel at Covington First UMC, we will be proclaiming what God has done in our lives as we hear testimonies of those who are living answers to prayer, from deliverance to addictions and healing from cancer to just having our own faith story and sharing it with others.
Each person is a living miracle and we all have good news to celebrate and share with others.
In fact, this should be our response to daily life because each day that we live is a blessing from God.
Christ is risen! Alleluia!! What good news this is!
Because Christ rose from the dead, we no longer have to fear that death is the last thing.
We can thank God every day for the time we have here on earth with our family and friends, and we can thank God because through Jesus Christ our life will never end. Now that’s news worth sharing.
For what do you need to thank God today? What good news do you need to share with others?
