COVINGTON, Ga. - Piedmont Newton Hospital has received an “A” grade for its commitment to patient safety, according to the fall 2018 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. Six of Piedmont Healthcare’s 11 hospitals received “A” grades in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade, representing twice as many as any other system in Georgia.

The Hospital Safety Grade is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts. Administered by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health care system, the Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year.
