PORTERDALE, Ga. - Porterdale has made a long term commitment to making the village a recreational hub, offering both residents and visitors opportunities to enjoy its parks, trails and the Yellow River. This spring something new is being added to the mix – a Rise and Shine Dance Party.
Using the Day Breaker dance party phenomenon which started in major cities in 2014 as inspiration, Porterdale and the staff at Moxie Fitness put their heads together to come up with an exercise event that was right sized for the village. Hosted in the Porter Memorial Gymnasium, the morning will begin with a relaxing all levels Yoga class at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 45-minute Rise and Shine Dance Party at 9:30 a.m. The Rise and Shine event will take place, May-October, on the first Saturday of the month.
No need to have any dance moves, just bring the family, friends, colleagues and even your dog Led by instructors from Moxie Fitness, a partner in Porterdale’s wellness initiative, this self-paced dance work out will be a fun and energizing start to the weekend. There is no charge for children 14 and under, with the goal of making this a family friendly and affordable exercise option. Attendees at the yoga sessions will need to bring their own mat and all attendees are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle.
Tickets for the 6 sessions can be purchased on Eventbrite – participants can chose to participate in the following Yoga ($40), Yoga & the Rise and Shine Dance Party ($70) or just the Rise and Shine Dance Party ($40). Individual sessions can be purchased at the door for $8.
Starting, Saturday May 5 with the first Rise and Shine, participants get to participate in a one of kind event with all proceeds helping fund the development of further recreation options in the village.
