COVINGTON, Ga. - Family Promise of NewRock will host its annual dinner and auction gala at the Georgia Piedmont Technical College Conference Center, located at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway in Covington, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
Family Promise of NewRock, a charity organization with a mission to support homeless families with children in Newton and Rockdale, are focusing on Newton County this year.
Approximately 75% of the organization's current families are from Newton, according to Latricia Nation, Family Promise of NewRock director.
"All my calls have been from Newton County," she said. "I know there's a shelter out there, but you can't keep the family together out there."
She added, "At Family Promise, we keep them all together."
As the gala quickly approaches, the organization has been actively searching for local support, which can be in the form of auction donations, sponsorships/partnerships or table purchases.
Items worth more than $200 can be donated to the live auction, which is sure to be fun time for attendees, according to Steve Macke, Family Promise of NewRock board member.
Last year's auctioneer "kept everybody in stitches," he said. "He was great. He was a funny guy."
Table purchases range in price - a table of eight will cost $360 and a platinum table will cost $500.
All proceeds from the gala will support homeless families with children in Newton and Rockdale.
"It takes a lot of money to give them what they need," Macke said. "Right now, we're just barely meeting the need. Without some significant donations, we aren't able to provide the level of support they should have."
For those interested in attending the gala, tickets are priced at $55 per individual and can be purchased by calling 470-721-4549 or by visiting https://fpnrgala2019.eventbrite.com. Semi-formal attire is required.
