Panthers win first General Ray Davis Invitational

The Indian Creek Middle School wrestling squad won the first annual General Ray Davis Invitational on Saturday.

Overall, the Panthers scored 195 points to secure the victory. The rest of the top finishers were Adairsville (174), Collins Hill (170), Ola (150) and Union Grove (149).

The tournament champions were Tyler Bailey (80 pounds), Sage Allen (125), Alex Davis (140), Jarrod Rickman (145) and Mark Smith (170).

Bailey, who went 3-0 (one pin), won the championship match after three overtime periods.

Runner-ups at the tournament were Wesley Chambers (103), Grady Bryant (145) and Tyler Rickman (152). Austin McCullough (85) finished the day at third.

Other Panther wrestlers recording wins were Canaan Stove (85), Adam Walden (90), Dalton Wheeler (90), Ray Barber (95), C.J. Bunn (103), Justin Cochlan (112), Tray Hill (112), Kyle Barronton (119), Kamron Scaggs (130), Daniel Whitlow (135), Will Daniel (160) and Troy Crittendon (170).

Indian Creek will next host Conyers Middle School today. The Panthers will then travel to the Apalachee Invitational on Saturday.

BASEBALL

The East Metro Baseball League (Men's Senior Baseball League) is currently seeking players for the 2008 season.

There are two leagues for ages 18 and older and 35+. Practices have already started, but all are still welcome to join as the teams are still being formed.

The season kickoff tournament begins March 28. All games are played at two premier ball parks - Field of Dreams (1355 Sigman Rd.) and Newton High School.
