Nana Hyatt Cook

Mrs. Nana Hyatt Cook, 94, of Oxford, died Oct. 11. The daughter of the late Jeff Hyatt and Julia Sockwell Hyatt, she was born in Newton County in 1913. Mrs. Cook was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Her entire life was centered on church. Mrs. Cook retired from Macy's after 38 years of service in merchandising. She was preceded in death by parents and husband Mr. Charles Jack Cook. She is survived by her sister Josephine E. Hyatt of Conyers and several cousins.

The family will receive friends today, Oct. 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Edwards and the Rev. Jim Killman officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
