Mrs. Lottie R. Ballard, 88, of Covington, died June 29 at Newton Medical Center. The daughter of the late Asbury and Bertie Mae Carlin Brock, she was born in Greene County.

She attended Gaithers United Methodist Church and enjoyed search-a-word puzzles, cooking and reading. Mrs. Ballard was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by husband George Marvin Ballard.

Surviving are daughters JoAnn Kimble of Oxford, Margie Tipton of Covington; grandchildren Heather Poole, Jill Batson, Christopher Dale, Michael Hawkins, Melinda Weldon; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Walden, Chason Weldon, Makayla Hawkins, Michelle Hawkins, Griffin Poole, Alexandra Batson, Fletcher Poole; sisters Helen Kirkpatrick and Grace Goddard of Covington.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 1, in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Herman Goddard officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
