Joseph Oscar Hunt Jr., 74, of Covington died July 7 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. Born on Jan. 23, 1934 in Athens, he was the son of the late Joseph Oscar Hunt Sr. and Vadie Wall Hunt. Mr. Hunt was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a retired supervisor from Sears, and was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer fireman for the City of Covington for more than 25 years and coached and umpired little league games for many years.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife Linda Hutson Hunt; sons, Norman Hunt of Covington and William (Bill) Hunt of Oxford; brother, Johnny Hunt of Crest City, Fla.; sister, Betty Smith of Covington; grandchildren, Christopher Hunt, Joseph Hunt and Sarah Hunt.

Funeral services for Mr. Hunt will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11 at the Chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Dockett and the Rev. Todd Heil officiating. Interment will be in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
