The Covington News' second poll of the 2008 Newton County Election season concluded Saturday. The interactive asked readers to choose between the current candidates for Newton County Board of Commissioners chairman.

Incumbent Chairman Aaron Varner fisnished the polling period on top with 38 percent of the polls cast at www.covnews.com. Republican challenger Ed Hutter finished second with 23 percent of the votes.

Democrat Kathryn Morgan, 18 percent, rounded out the top three and ahead of her democratic opponents Hubert White, 7 percent, and Emmett Denby, 4 percent.

Republican Susette Monk finished fourth with 10 percent of the vote.
