Dear Editor: I want to thank whoever placed American flags on the graves of veterans in the Covington City Cemetery. It could have been the VFW, American Legion or DAR.
In the past week the subject of my father's military service has come up twice. He was a doctor in the army and served in Germany and the Philippines.
Jan. 20 would have been my parents' 63rd wedding anniversary. I visited their graves, and when I saw the flag on my father's grave, I burst into tears. He did serve his country honorably and then came home to serve his hometown.
Then I looked around and there were flags everywhere. What a tribute. I thank you for your efforts to honor these soldiers.
