Elizabeth Sanders Kemp, 89, was called home, peacefully in her sleep, to be with our Lord and Savior March 9. She was born in 1918 in Coweta County, Newnan, graduated from Wesleyan College and was an accomplished pianist and soprano soloist. Mrs. Kemp was a devoted Christian and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her energy and personality lit up every room. She never met a stranger, and her kind heart and strong personal will be greatly missed by the many people she touched in her life. She and her husband adopted a newborn son, Brantley, and loved him with all their hearts. Mrs. Kemp was preceded in death by husband Samuel Andrew Kemp, parents Thomas Brantley Sanders and Bessie Leigh Sanders and siblings Will Bennett Sanders, Lucille Sanders Sewell, Thomas Liegh Sanders Sr., Walter Drane Sanders and Joel Harris Sanders, all from Newnan.
Surviving are son Brantley (Brenda) Kemp of Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren Samuel Andrew Kemp II (Tricia) of Tampa, Fla., Ashley Seal Kemp, Nashville, Tenn., Austin Brantley Kemp (Kristan), Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren Mia, Paige, Graysen, Caroline and Cate Kemp.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Adult Choir, Brentwood Baptist Church, 7777 Concord Road, Brentwood, TN 37027. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday;, March 28, at Oak Hill Cemetery, the Sanders family burial plot, Newnan, with Dr. Joel Richardson, Central Baptist Church, Newnan, officiating.
