Alvin Stockton, 79, of Covington, died Dec. 22. The son of the late Guy and Ida Stockton, he was a native of Hall County and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Stockton was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed retirement from his rocking chair on his front porch.
Surviving are wife of 51 years Dolly Stockton; daughter and son-in-law Sue and Ray Morris of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law Randall and JoAnn Edge of Lake City, Fla., and Danny Edge of Oxford; grandchildren Tommy King, Mary King, Kody Morris, Shane Edge, Cindy Edge, Dawn Shaw, Lonnie Shaw, Kim Green, Amber Colthran, Wes Colthran, Joey Edge; great-grandchildren Austin King, Victoria King, Brock Edge, Megan Edge, Brandy Shaw, Nick Shaw, Randall Shaw, Daniel Shaw, Rusty Shaw, Courtney Green, Keirsten Cothran, Tre Cothran; sister Susie Cofield of Jefferson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Terry Brock and Roger Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, Conyers.
