COVINGTON, Ga. -- As the NewRock Track and Field meet, scheduled for Thursday at Heritage, nears, the Eastside Eagles track team will come in riding the momentum of a big win at last Thursday's Grayson All Come Meet at Grayson High.

In addition to finishing on top in team scoring, several Eagles also placed first or second individually in a plethora of events.

First place winners for Eastside were Jovan King (long jump), Keenan McDonald (triple jump), Jordan Rogers (high jump), Million Conally-Cooper (shot put), Matthew Brown (100 meters) and Anthony Thomas (400 meters).

Second place finishers were Taylor Carter (long jump), Jeremiah Branch (triple jump), Tomarkus Woods (shot put), Isaiah Humes (discus), Antonio Macek (400 meters) and Keenan McDonald (300 meter hurdles).

Brown’s 100 meters time of 10.95 seconds just edged out Kobe Johnson of Discovery. Eastside’s Jacorvian Zellner (11.18 seconds) finished fourth and Jovan King (11.23 seconds) finished sixth.

In addition to Thomas’ 50.78 first-place 400 time, Antonio Mack (51.98) and Jeff Haynes (53.67), also from Eastside, placed second and third respectively.

Rogers’ high jump of 5-feet-6 inches was better by two inches than Grayson’s Isaiah Davis. Meanwhile, Jovan King’s long jump of 20 feet and one inch bested Carter by a foot.

Conally-Cooper’s 46-foot shot put was a whole eight feet longer than Woods’ second-place effort. Eastside’s 4x100 meter relay team of King, Zellner, Gio Macek and Jeff Haynes also finished first with a time of 43.59 seconds.

The Eagles boys’ total 56 team score put them six points over Grayson for the top spot in the team rankings.
