On Friday, April 25, Friends of Hard Labor Creek State Park will host a golf tournament to raise money for the restoration of the old mill water wheel, the signature hole on “The Creek” golf course at Hard Labor Creek State Park.

Registration starts at 11 a.m.  Registration includes golf fee, cart, range balls, light snack, swag bag, parking, and dinner after the tournament.

Check-in begins at 11 a.m., and the tournament begins at noon.

Prizes go to the first and second place finishers, hole in one, putting contest, longest drive, closest to pin, ball drop and various raffle prizes.

There is a $60 registration fee for individuals, and a $240 fee for registration of four.

The wooden wheel, mounted on the original 1880s foundation, usually turns gently in front of the waterfall rushing under the old pedestrian bridge over Rocky Creek. Together, they create one of the most peaceful and picturesque views in the region.

The water wheel stopped turning in 2012. The bearings were shot and it wobbled badly, and there has not been money allocated to the state budget for fixing the wheel.
