With winter slowing down and spring warming up, Newton, Alcovy and Eastside's spring sports schedule are beginning to take shape.
Newton and Eastside return to baseball action on Monday, with the Rams hosting Miller Grove at 3:30 p.m., while the Eagles travel to Heritage to take on the Patriots at 5:55 p.m.
Newton and Eastside renew their rivalry on Tuesday, squaring off at Eastside at 5:30 p.m.
Alcovy's baseball team takes the field for the first time this week on Thursday, hosting rival Rockdale County in region play at 5:30 p.m.
The Rams and Tigers round out action on the diamond on Friday, as Newton hosts Columbia at 5:30 p.m. before the Tigers face North Forsyth at 5:55 p.m.
Soccer returns
All three schools' girls and boys soccer teams return to the pitch this week, with Eastside taking on Alcovy on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Sharp Stadium.
Eastside closes the week with a road contest at Sandy Creek at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Newton hosts a pair of home contests this week, beginning on Wednesday against Morgan County and ending on Friday in region action against Luella. Both games are set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
After facing Eastside on Tuesday, the Tigers travel to Morrow Friday to take on the Mustangs in region action. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at Tara Stadium.
