For the second time this season, the Atlanta Falcons will be featured on "Monday Night Football" tomorrow night against San Francisco.

When scheduled months ago, the contest looked to be one of the best of the season. A game featuring what should have been two of the best teams in the NFL.

The contest had all the makings of "must-see" television, but instead, the "Monday Night Football" season finale could end with a whimper instead of a bang.

The Falcons don't need anymore piling on. They've had enough of it already.

I do, however, hope that the organization takes a serious look at its future and the direction it wants to go moving forward.

While there will be no championships won, and Monday's game means little except playoff positioning for the 49'ers, the prime-time game gives Thomas Dimitroff, Mike Smith and Matt Ryan one last chance to show their fans that this season was a fluke.

If not, jobs may be lost. I'm not originally from the area, but I've been a Braves fan since childhood and I know Atlanta fans demand a winner.

The Falcons need to prove that what they're doing is working, that the lack of production from the offensive line can be fixed, that the seven draft picks given for Julio Jones haven't depleted quality depth, and that the defensive line isn't as bad as it seems.

Mike Budenholzer seems to have the Hawks holding steady after a year of uncertainty. Why can't the Falcons put it together this offseason?

There are a lot of questions that need to be answered regarding the Falcons – including their intensity and hustle – but work has to be done.

Let's hope the team doesn't lose its fan base in the process with another poor showing against a quality team this week.

A great performance against the 49'ers could be just what fans need to keep a hand on the bandwagon before fully jumping ship.

While the product on the field may not be what Falcons' fans have become accustomed to over the last few years, Monday night is still "must-see" TV.
