COVINGTON, Ga. — Although it’s not the traditional GHSA softball season, high school softball is still in play.
The Peachtree Academy Lady Panthers softball team of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association is 4-3 at the halfway point of its season, and as it prepares for a Thursday afternoon game with in-county rival Covington Academy.
The Lady Panthers have picked up a little steam after losing 10-4 to Lanier Christian Academy in its season opener. Since then, Peachtree Academy has gone on a three-ggame winning streak, defeating Holy Ground Baptist 12-10, Lyndon Academy 8-3, and region rival Covington Academy 14-4 along the way.
Peachtree next split a doubleheader with Bethlehem Christian Academy, losing 7-6 in a back-and-forth game one nail biter. While resting their starters for the second game, Peachtree lost to Bethlehem 18-2, but then bounced back to defeat Holy Ground Baptist 8-0.
The Peachtree Lady Panthers play host to region rival Covington Academy Thursday at 5 p.m. and finish the week with a home game Friday against Central Christian School.
