The Social Circle Redskins and the Eastside Eagles were two of the teams that competed in the Redskins Invitational on Friday, March 8.
In the track and field event hosted at Social Circle, 13 teams competed in a variety of different events.
Eastside Eagles’ results
For the Eastside girls, the event was highlighted by Destiny Carter.
In the girls 1600-meter run, Carter claimed the first place finish with a time of 5:58.51. Max Tyner and Rachael Avery competed in the same run, but finished in 12th and 13th place, respectively.
In the 4x100 girls relay, the Eagles finished in fifth place with a time of 55.84. The girls team finished one spot behind in the 4x200 relay with a sixth place finish, earning a time of 2:05.86.
Allison Brooks earned the top finish for Eastside in the 400-meter dash in ninth place with a time of 1:08.48.
For the Eastside boys, the team ended the event with three separate first place finishes.
In the boys’ 200-meter dash, Jonas Davis took home first place with a time of 23.07.
In the boys’ 400-meter dash, it was Jaden Dix who earned first place with a time of 48.79.
The final first place finish for Eastside came from Amir Williams, who took home the top placement in the boys’ 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.00.
In the same race, the Eagles captured second place as well with Jack Baker, who ran a time of 2:10.30.
For the boys’ 100-meter dash, Davis took home second place with a time of 11.10. Marion Eubanks Jr. and Jarius Mack took home fourth and eighth place with times of 11.55 and 11.86, respectively.
Eastside earned a second place finish in the boys’ 1600-meter dash with Hunter Land, who ran a time of 5:11.96. Joseph Mota took home fourth place with a time of 5:26.97.
In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Ja’Vonte Cherry-Lettsome earned sixth place with a time of 17.46. Cherry-Lettsome also took home sixth place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.95.
Larry Rivers Jr. earned the sixth place finish in the high jump for the Eagles.
The Eastside boys’ relay team placed eighth in the 4x100 relay.
In the shot put, Jacorey Jackson placed fifth with a distance of 41-11.5.
Social Circle’s results
The Redskins’ girls track and field team was led by Jada Hyman, who brought home the lone first place finish for the girls team.
Hyman placed first in the girls’ 400-meter dash with a time of 58.69. In the same event, Brielle Price placed fourth with a time of 1:03.96.
In the 3200-meter run, Lenzie Gaither and Abby Nunary placed second and third with times of 15:51.57 and 16:22.52, respectively.
Social Circle’s girls relay team earned second place finishes in the 4x100 relay and the 4x200 relay.
For the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, Maloni Hundley took home fourth place with a time of 19.36.
In the girls 300-meter hurdles, Taylor Himes finishes in ninth place with a time of 58.00. Himes also placed fifth on the high jump.
Social Circle’s Price, Zion Robinson and Sophia Fontenot placed back-to-back-to-back in the girls 200-meter dash in sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively.
Fontenot placed eighth in the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 13.60.
The top placements for the Social Circle boys’ team came in a pair of fourth place finishes.
In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Cornelius CJ Scott took home fourth place with a time of 52.82. CJ Scott also placed tenth in the boys’ high jump.
The Redskins also placed fourth in the boys’ 4x100 relay. In the boys' 4x200 and 4x800 relays, Social Circle earned fifth place finishes.
For the boys 1600-meter run, Simeon Gibbs placed seventh with a time of 5:30.44.
In the boys’ long jump, Antonio Bailey finished in ninth place with a distance of 100-3.
