Regional meet track results show sectionals qualifiers

All three Newton County schools wrapped up regional track meets this past week and will now prepare for sectionals. The top four qualifiers in regionals will qualify for sectionals and a chance to advance to the state meet. 

 

Here are the top four finishers from all county schools during the regional meet finals. 

 

Alcovy Girls

Quantasia Perry — 1st in 100 meters with a time of 12.29 seconds. 

Elaina Housworth — 1st in triple jump with 35-foot-5 inch jump.

Alcovy 4x100 Relay team of Alecea Housworth, Quantasia Perry, Katherine Hopson and Destiny Rhodes — 2nd in 4x100 relay with a time of 50.40 seconds. 

 

Alcovy Boys 

Jakob Streeter — 4th in 400 meters with a time of 51.27 seconds.

Boys 4x100 relay team —  3rd with a time of 43.56 seconds.

Maurice Johnson — 2nd in 800 meters with a time of 1:59.55

 

Newton Girls 

 

Laniya Rogers —  3rd 100 meters with a time of 12.61 seconds.

Carley McBridge —  4th in 200 meters with a time of 26.13 seconds.

Anaya Arnold —  2nd in 800 meters with a time of 2:25.27. 

Ebony Forbes —  3rd in 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.36 seconds.

Newton Girls 4x100 relay (Jasmine Delamar, Ebony Forbes, Carley McBridge Laniya Rogers — 3rd with a time of 48.01 seconds.

Newton Girls 4x400 relay (Anaya Arnold, Jordan Greenwood, Carley McBridge, Celene Stringer) — 4th with a time of 4:04.25.

Ebony Forbes —  4th in high jump with a 5-foot-2 inch jump. 

Ebony Forbes —  2nd in long jump with a 17-foot-6.5 inch jump.

Jon’nay Haws — 4th in long jump with a 17-foot-2.5 inch jump. 

Arianna Brown — 3rd in shot put with a 38-foot-2.75 inch throw.

Zequra Page — in shot put with a 36-foot-8 inch throw. 

Arrione Hickson — 2nd in discuss with a 7-foot throw. 

 

Newton Boys

Elija Godwin — 1st in 200 meter dash with a time of 20.78 seconds. 

Elija Godwin — 1st in 400 meter dash with a time of 46.66 seconds.

Newton 4x400 boys relay (Gary Florence, Elija Godwin, Jaquan Henderson, Jermaine Robinson, Isaiah Miller, Devonte Williams) 3rd, with a time of 3:18.57. 

Isaiah Miller —  3rd in high jump with a 6-foot-2 inch jump. 

Sayyid Grant — 4th in long jump with a 20-foot-8.5 inch jump. 

Elija Godwin —  2nd in triple jump with a 46-foot-1.25 inch jump. 

Devonte Williams —  4th in triple jump with a 43-foot-9-25 inch jump. 

Jeremiah Bundrage —  3rd in shot put with a 50-foot-3 inch throw. 

Jordan Reed —  2nd in discus with a 124-foot-2 inch throw.

 

Eastside: 

Girls

Melissa Ruiz — 4th in 300 meter hurdles with a time of 52.69 seconds. 

T’niah Douglas — 3rd in discus with an 82-foot-4 inch throw.

Jasmyne Stevens — 3rd in long jump with a 16-foot-7 inch jump.

Nia Davis —  2nd in triple jump  with a 33-foot-8 inch jump.

 

Boys 

Eric Stokes — 1st in 100 meter dash with a time of 10.53 seconds. 

Eric Stokes — 1st in 200 meter dash with a time of 21.70 seconds.

Justin Burroughs —  4th 400 meter dash with a time of 51.85 seconds.

Boys 4x100 Relay — 2nd with a time of 42.61 seconds.

Boys 4x100 Relay —  2nd with a time of 3:21.66 seconds.

Anthony Thomas — 1st in 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.61. 

Keiodre Perry — 2nd in high jump with a 6-foot jump.  

Million Connally-Cooper — 2nd in shot put with a 44-foot-11.5 inch throw.  

Cameron Gaither — 3rd in shot put with a 42-foot-9 inch throw.
