The Rams won their second game of the day and fourth in two days in dominating fashion over South Cobb Saturday.

After managing just three hits in the day's opening victory over Columbia, Newton notched four in the first inning during a 12-7 victory over the Eagles.

The Rams strung together four straight doubles to open the game, coming from Jeremy Laguins, Tripp Lofton, Ryan McCranie and Allen Bowen.

All four scored, and the Rams continued to put runs on the board from there. Sherman Graves and Daniel Croom each reached on errors and would score on an RBI by Dezmon Billingslea and M.J. Boykin.

Laguins and Loftin both reached base twice in the inning, which featured three hits, and had three Rams left on base.
Loftin pitched for the Rams, keeping South Cobb from putting runs together in spurts.

The Eagles scored one in the first, one in the third and one in the fourth, before adding two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

The Rams offense, however, continued throughout the game. Newton put another run on the board in the second as Graves was hit by a pitch and moved to second on an error and third on a passed ball. He scored on a sacrifice by Daniel Croom.

In the third inning, Billingslea led off with a walk and scored as the next batter, Boykin hit a double. Following Boykin was Laguins, who reached on a walk. The next batter, Loftin, scored Boykin on a sacrifice to the third baseman.

Allen Bowen rounded out the scoring on a single which plated Laguins. The Rams then led 10-2 after three.

"We're putting bats on balls and scoring runs," Newton coach Vincent Byams said.

Newton added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Sherman Graves, which scored Bowen, and a sacrifice fly by Croom to score Graves.

The Eagles managed eight hits off of two Newton pitchers but couldn't keep up with the Rams' bats.

Newton was led by Bowen with two hits and two runs, Graves with three runs and Boykin with two hits.

The Rams travel to Newnan Tuesday.

"We've got to keep it going," Byams said.
