The highly-anticipated start to the 2012 Dixie Boys World Series briefly ended Saturday.
The event, hosted by City Pond Park, was scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., but was delayed to a 4 p.m. start time for the first two games, pitting North Carolina and South Carolina and Arkansas and Louisiana against each other.
However, as both games were in the third inning (Arkansas was up 4-1 and North Carolina 5-3) another storm rolled through Newton County, suspending play shortly after 5 p.m.
Play was then pushed back to today, with the tournament schedule moving back a day as well.
Unless there is another day of bad weather, the championship game is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, rather than Wednesday.
