The Newton County Recreation Commission 12-under all-star football team has rolled through all of its competition this year. Coached by Fred Hardeman and Arsenio Nolley, the NCRC Rams are 13-0 after their most recent win — a 34-14 victory Sunday over the Athens Oilers.
Perhaps more impressive is the run they’re on right now. In 11 of their first 12 games, the Rams didn’t give up any points. Conversely they’ve scored more than 500 points and topped 60 once. They’ve won their first two tournaments along the way.
Comprised of players from the NCRC’s Third Division, the Rams are currently playing for a chance to play in the Coalition Bowl championship at the Georgia Dome. The game would precede the high school title games.
The team is made up entirely of Newton County players. Darvin Jones, Jaquan Henderson, Chavis Franklin and Tiaje Thomas have stood out but the team as a whole has been dominant from its first game. The rest of the team is DeMarea Johnson, Ja’Naud Notae, Robert Black IV, Armon Baker, Eric Stokes Jr., Clarence Nichols II, Mathew Dial, Demetrius Tuggle Jr., Koby Perry, Jamarius Jefferies, Jeremiah Holloman, Allen Ruffin Jr., Robert Sease II, Christian Mobley, Dawson Knowles, Andre Thomas and Zachary Lee.
