Mayhem Bad Boys head to Disney World

A local 10-and-under travel baseball team makes their way to Disney's Wide World of Sports to participate in USSSA Elite 32.

The Mayhem Bad Boys set their goal last fall to reach this year's Elite 32 tournament.

This event is considered one of the nation's hardest to qualify for by either winning a Super NIT event which are held throughout the nation or receiving an at-large bid from the United States Specialty Sports Association. The Mayhem Bad Boys nearly accomplished this goal early in September last year by finishing No. 2 at the South Carolina event.

Coming into this year's 2012 spring season, they would attempt again several times, playing in Alabama's Gulfport NIT, Atlanta NIT and Alabama's Auburn Super NIT but each time coming up short.

Although, they came up just short at the Auburn Super NIT, they made another strong showing by finishing in third place among one of the strongest field of teams. Bad Boys entered the semifinals at 4-0 needing just one more win but lost to already Elite 32 qualifier East Cobb Braves ending their chance.

As things played out, the eventual champion 6-4-3 Cougars from Marietta denied the bid to Disney. Therefore, the Bad Boys received the at large bid for their third and second place finishes at Auburn and South Carolina. This is a great accomplishment and opportunity for this second year travel team and local players from Covington, Conyers and Walton counties to play some of the best teams in the nation at a great venue like the Wide World of Sports. Tournament play begins July 15 and lasts through July 20.
