According to a press release, in this past weekend’s O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags and Show 'N' Shine at Atlanta Motor Speedway, there were multiple winners from Covington.

The season points championship in the diesel truck division came down to the final round elimination race to determine the champion – a race between husband and wife. Ramae Bethune of Covington, beat her husband, Dwayne Bethune, off the line to earn the title.

“It’s exciting for me, it’s the first time that I’ve won the championship,” Ramae said in a news release. “It’s fun coming out Atlanta Motor Speedway and racing against other people. It gives us something to do as a family.”

The two were separated by one point entering the race. Ramae Bethune drive a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500. Dwayne Bethune and his 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 were last year’s champions.

Roy and Shelia Coulson took third place in the showroom classic (through 1972) with a 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS.

Chris Burdett and his 2004 custom Chopper took second place in the open.
