Covington had a strong showing at The Atlanta Kids Triathlon thanks to Covington's own Jordan Beam.
The Atlanta Kids Triathlon was held on Sunday, Aug. 26 at the West Gwinnett Aquatic Center in Norcross, where Beam placed third overall out of 827 kids.
Beam, 10 years old, took part in the junior division for 6-10 year olds in which he completed a 100-meter swim, a three-mile bike ride and a half-mile run. Beam completed the course in 18:18, just three seconds behind the second place finisher.
Jordan is a part of Kids 4 Kids which is a kid's triathlon team that competes to raise money for Camp Twin Lakes.
"Triathlons are a lot of fun and I like to do them because they push me and make me work harder," Beam said.
He also said his favorite part of triathlons is running and biking.
Both Jordan and his younger brother Tanner play for the Y's Covington Galaxy soccer team where their father Shane serves as one of the volunteer coaches.
