The Covington News is looking to expand its coverage of the area's outdoor sports and its sportsmen. The News will dedicate this space to stories, calendar items and photos of fishing, hunting and other outdoor sports.

Fishing reports
Jackson Lake is down 4.9 feet, clear and 72 degrees according to havefunfishing.com.

Bass fishing has been good up in the rivers and around the docks and channel ledges with everything that resembles a red or green crawfish. Later on in the day, move out and throw a Carolina rig six inch worm in the green pumpkin or pumpkin seed color.

Lake Sinclair is down 1.99 feet, 76 degrees and mostly stained according to haffunfishing.com.

Bass fishing is also good here with fish hitting on top water lures and spinner baits during early morning and late afternoon.

Pop R's and similar baits have been working well along seawalls and rocks, mostly near the mouth of coves along main river runs.

Soft plastics work well near the fishing docks and Carolina rigs retrieved along the sides and front of docks are also working well.

Lake Oconee is full and 74-80 degrees according to havefunfishing.com.

Bass fishing has been fair with most of the largemouths moving to deep waters for summer time. Shad are still hitting early on in the day on the shoreline.
