For those looking to enjoy the weather and contribute to a good cause can look toward the 4th Annual Ty Reed Memorial Golf Classic.
The event being held on May 14 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Bear Creek Country Club off Hwy 138 in Monroe is $70 per person or $280 per team with all proceeds benefiting the Ty Reed Scholarship fund.
Reed was as senior at Morgan County High School in 1993 when he was killed in a car accident just before his high school graduation.
Reed's father Tim is co-owner of Masters Landscape and mother Caren is a teacher at Veterans Middle School.
Tim and Karen established the scholarship shortly after Ty's death in his memory.
Beginning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start the tournament is a four-man scramble/captains choice which also features a hole in one contest for $25,000, in which the shot maker will receive $12,500 and the scholarship $12,500.
There will be other contests such as two longest drive holes, two closest to the pin holes, a closest to the line hole, a putting contest and two mulligans.
Lunch, door prizes and refreshment will be available.
