The progress of the Eastside Eagles during the 2018 season didn't go unnoticed by those across the state of Georgia who cover high school football.

After becoming the first Georgia High School Association school in Newton County to finish a football season undefeated -- and after nabbing its first region championship in nine years right before advancing to the quarterfinals of the Class AAAA state playoffs -- the Eastside Eagles checked in at No. 6 in the 2018 season's final Georgia Sportswriters Association high school football poll.

Eastside lost 42-15 to eventual Class AAAA state champion, Blessed Trinity in the quarterfinals, marking the fourth time since 2008 that the Eagles have seen their season come to an end in the playoffs at the hands of an eventual state champion.

The sixth place ranking is down two spots from where Eastside was in the last GSWA poll before the playoffs began, but is also the highest final ranking in school history.

You can see the rest of the Class AAAA rankings, along with the final GSWA poll of the season in its entirety below.
