Eastside still had a chance. The team that averages just under 10 runs per game was down 2-0 against Locust Grove (No. 3 in the state in Class AAAA) in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Eagles offense came alive and the next thing you know Eastside had two runners on first and second with no outs. Josh Sims came up to bat and got down a sacrifice bunt down the first baseline to move the runners into scoring position.

Connor Hewell was next at-bat and he turned it into a sacrifice RBI, scoring Austin Kerbow and moving Chase Raines to third base.

With two outs and one runner in scoring position, Hunter Ballard came to the plate to tie the game and send it into extra innings, but struck out looking and the Wildcats escaped with a 2-1 victory.

The Eagles moved to 10-3 on the season with a 6-1 record in region 4-AAAA. Eastside will have an opportunity to strike a revenge blow tomorrow at Locust Grove.
