DULUTH, Ga. — On March 28, the Eastside golf team competed in the Area Tournament at Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth.

To qualify for sectionals, the Eagles needed a top four finish, and they finished third overall.

Leading the way for the Eagles during the Area Tournament was sophomore Will Norton, juniors Sam Harper and Murphy O’Brien as well as senior Nick Mitchell.

Norton scored a 79 while Harper finished with an 81 and O’Brien recorded an 88. Mitchell rounded his performance out with a 99.

Head coach Chris Edgar displayed the pride he has in each of his players.

“I was proud of our entire team’s effort,” Edgar said. “All these guys took on the mental challenges that golf puts on you and handled it well.”

To top it all off, Eastside was one of only eight teams to qualify for the Sectionals Tournament this season.

Now, the Eagles set their sights on the Sectionals Tournament on May 2 at the Cartersville Country Club. In order for them to advance to the State Tournament, Eastside will, once again, need a top four finish.
